If you think Scouting’s just about knots, woggles and big shorts, then be prepared to be surprised. It’s how Richard Branson, Barack Obama and David Beckham got their start in life and you can benefit too.
Every year we help 400,000 young people in the UK enjoy new adventures; to experience the outdoors, interact with others, gain confidence and have the opportunity to reach their full potential.
And it’s not just young people who can get in on the action. Working alongside our youth members are thousands of adult volunteers, with a huge variety of roles and opportunities available.
Our History
The 28th Wallasey Scout Group was formed in 1955, Paul Lloyd and Bill Iveson. Gaining their experience of scouting as members of a group in Birkenhead. They managed to recruit fifteen boys from the Red Cross in Penkett Road. These original 28th scouts were invested on the 4th August 1955, gaining the now familiar neckerchiefs. The maroon and pale blue bordered neckers were made by one of the mothers of the scouts, Mrs Morrison. The tradition of parental involvement with the group continues today and is something key to the success of the 28th.
The group will celebrate 70 years in 2025, and looks to the future for more adventures in scouting.
